Drowning Is Preventable

High Quality

When considering where to take your child for swim lessons, you want to ensure that you enroll them in high quality swim lessons where safety is priority. We all need to have a healthy respect for the water.

Maintenance

Like any learned skill, we need to maintain it to keep it fresh and build confidence. A young child's rapid growth causes their center of gravity to change with each growth spurt. Maintaining swimming skills is important.

Puddle Jumper

Muscle memory is instinctual in most survival situations. These place your child in the vertical "drowning" position while creating a muscle memory of how they feel in the water.

Refresh

When your child has been out of the water for more than a month they typically need lessons to refresh their skills. You’ll want to keep them enrolled in lessons or be sure to practice with them regularly.

Groups

Semi-private group lessons are for swimmers who have completed the swim•float•swim program and are no longer upset to get in the pool, participate, and follow instructions in a group setting.

Life Jacket

When swimming or boating around lakes, rivers, and oceans everyone should wear a life jacket at all times. Puddle jumpers, floaties, blow-up toys, rafts, and air mattresses should never be used as life jackets

Drowning Is Preventable

See Results In Weeks Not Years

Survival swimming lessons provide a foundation of water safety skills for your child. Once your child has the necessary skills to feel confident in the water, you can start planning more family fun in the pool! Of course, it’s still important to prioritize water safety for kids, even once they’ve passed their 6-week survival swim course.

Growing kids will need some ongoing help to continue improving their swimming skills as their bodies develop. As kids get taller, they will have a changing center of gravity. This can mean that swimming is like a brand new experience a year or two after their first swimming lessons.

How to Promote Fun and Water Safety for Kids

It’s important for kids to understand that though swimming is a fun recreational activity, they still must have a healthy respect for the water. To promote fun in the pool, you should have some water safety rules for your whole family. For example, if you have a backyard pool, kids should know that they aren’t allowed in the water without direct adult supervision.

Ongoing Water Safety Classes at Aqua Baby Survival Swim School

Another essential step in promoting water safety for kids is providing them with the space they need to practice their skills. Aqua Baby Survival Swim School offers three options for your child’s continued swimming practice.

  • Maintenance Lessons – With maintenance lessons, your child will have 10 minutes of one-on-one time with the instructor once a week or once every two weeks, depending on your preferences and your child’s needs. These lessons will expand on the fundamentals explored in our 6-week program. Maintenance lessons are especially beneficial for swimmers up to 18 months in age. However, any child can benefit from this added practice.
  • Refresher Lessons – If you don’t have a backyard pool, your child may not get very many opportunities to get in the water. To prepare for an upcoming vacation or other poolside outing, schedule refresher lessons for your child. These lessons are also 10-minute, private sessions, but they’ll take place twice weekly over the course of 3-6 weeks. Here, your child will have a safe environment to reestablish his or her swimming skills and build more confidence in the water. Maintenance lessons or group lessons are recommended following a refresher course for ongoing success in young swimmers.
  • Semi-Private Group Lessons – Group lessons are a benchmark for children who are more comfortable in the water and able to follow instructions in a group setting. To ensure complete attention for each student, groups are limited to 4. These lessons take place once or twice a week (your preference) for 20 minutes per lesson allowing your child more time in the water. This setting provides a more independent transition for gaining stronger swimming skills and spending more time in the water. Some students will benefit from a guided transition from private lessons to group lessons as their skills improve.
